Indian wedding at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia

Indian Wedding in Philadelphia. This picture captures a sentimental moment between the bride and her sister soon after the wedding. Indian weddings involve a ritual vidai in which the bride bids farewell to her loved ones before leaving for her new home, and this shot happens to be taken during one such emotional moment. .The Setting. The historic Franklin Institute is one of the most unique venues to get married in Philadelphia. This shot was taken at this venue during the Vidai ritual of a traditional Indian wedding in which the bride bids farewell to her family members. The tears in the eyes of the bride’s sister and the celebratory attire and adornments of both the girls create a beautiful juxtaposition of the mixed feelings of sadness and joy. There is joy for the new found companionship, but there is also a heaviness of heart for leaving behind ones maternal home. This is a feeling that every girl goes through at this stage of her life that is very much palpable through this close shot.
